The Case of the Missing Yoga Pants.

Untitled by Kayla Bailey

A couple months ago I bought a pair of yoga pants. Well, I bought two. From a company I don't really like... But the pants were soo comfy! They were going to be my everyday pants. We were going to have such a happy life together. Me and these comfy yoga pants... from the company I don't really like.

Two weeks later I lost them while on vacation.

I called the hotel I stayed at to see if maybe there was a lost and found or something, and she said she would ask the head cleaning lady if they saw them, and she would call me back. I didn't hear back from her. I know I could've called back, I was too far away at the time to go up there, so I just sort of accepted the fact that my comfy yoga pants were gone, and I just wasted a whole lot of money at that company I don't like. I still have my other pair, but they weren't as comfy as the pair I lost. The universe made sure that I lost the pair I really liked.

Okay so maybe it wasn't the universe conspiring against me, but I swear I checked every crevice of that room before we left! The point is, loosing those pants needed to happen. Loosing those pants were the results of my karma.

To be honest, I sort of felt guilty for having them. I nearly took them back right after I bought them. Every time I had them on I felt bad. Even though they were comfy, I knew that I was being a hypocrite.

I went against my values. I gave my money to a place where I don't agree with how they do business. The same reason why I vow to never step foot in a wal-mart again. The values that lead me to shop at local businesses as much as possible. Also, that  place is just totally not my style. There are other places to get comfy yoga pants. I always have a choice as to where I spend my money.

That choice is super important. What we choose to support, and who we choose to support, is super important. If we keep supporting the wrong people, then the wrong people will continue to do the wrong things.

We cannot forget the power we have to change things. It's not just about where you spend your money or how you spend your money, but also fighting for the things you believe in. Nothing is helped by sitting at home and complaining, but by figuring out what you can do to help. You aren't just a little person. You are so much more.

Think about your values: Are the things in your life in line with them?

Is the studio you practice at in line with those values?
What about what you buy?
What about where you work?
Or the relationships you have?
What type of behavior do you tolerate from people?
And most importantly, how do you behave?

Stand up for what you believe in, and stand up for yourself.

I may be a picky person, but I am picky for (what I think) all the right reasons. I think about how my decisions impact more than just myself because everything is linked.

The problems of the world come from what everyone on this earth has done. Some of the bad choices made by "bad people" or "bad corporations", show that we believe the decisions we make will not make much of a difference.

If that's the way you think, you are so wrong.

Do a little more thinking.
Be a little more picky.
Know you have power.
And remember: there are more places to get comfy yoga pants.
