Yellow Nangka Wood Mala w/ Sodalite spacers

So I ordered new supplies about a month ago, but unfortunately my supplier did not have nangka wood at the time. As time passed I completely forgot about the wood, and had also forgotten that I requested backorders to be sent to me when they came in. It was a very very pleasant surprise when I received this wood in the mail!

Isn't it gorgeous? I'm like a kid with a new toy whenever I receive new supplies, so naturally I was itching to create a mala with this wood right away.

So I made this mala using 108 nangka wood beads.

I was not sure if the sodalite would work well with the color of the wood, but I guess my creative niche knows what goes well with what more than I do. Sodalite has very very uplifting qualities in it, and I believe colors effect your mood and life also. Yellow has very uplifting positive qualities so not only did the two look magnificent together the crystal properties along with the color of the wood make them even more compatible.

The guru bead is a really cool blue and white oval bead. I had very many different colors in mind for the tassel, but I felt the light yellow really made the mala pop and stand out. I did not want to pick a color too close to the color of the wood because I normally don't go for the uniform look, I try to pick colors that enhance the mala in a unique way.

So I'm very proud of this mala (as I am all of my creations) and I hope it brings the future owner lots of bright happy days :]
