Words from the heart... it begins today!

Instead of having a mantra of the week, this week begins our 21 day mantra practice. I mentioned this last week so I won't go into too many details today.

The mantra we will be working with is Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu. A mantra for peace and happiness for all sentient beings.

I hope that as you do this daily, you will begin to feel a beautiful shift in your heart.

With that said, here are a couple of tips:

  1. Make this a ritual // Try to practice at the same time everyday. Add it to your list of things to do in the morning, or before you go to be.
  2. Keep a journal // write down any feelings you may be experiencing before and after your mediation. It's nice to go back and see your progress.
  3. Keep it simple // Always go with your gut of course, but this isn't supposed to be hard. Wether you chant for 5 minutes or 30, the most important thing is that you SHOW UP.
  4. Love yourself // Don't beat yourself up over pronunciation, or if you forget to chant for a day. This is all about love, and it starts with you :)
Here is a video on how to use your mala beads during your mantra practice. Part 1 discusses some general info like the types of mala beads, and the meaning of 108. Feel free to watch that one too!

And here's a beautiful performance by Deva Premal with this mantra. She gives a break down on the pronunciation at the very beginning.
I think that's it! I'll be checking in with some of my insights, and I hope you'll be sharing yours as well.
Enjoy your week yogis!!
