Mantra of the Week: Aham Prema

Aham Prema is a short mantra with a very profound meaning. It means: "I am Divine Love"

That sounds pretty awesome, but one question that immediately popped into my head was, "What does it mean to be divine?"

From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

1   a : of, relating to, or proceeding directly from God or a god<divine love>

b : being a deity <the divine Savior>

c : directed to a deity <divine worship>
2
a : supremely good : superb <the pie was divine>
b : heavenly, godlike

All those definitions are pretty powerful. To some, these definitions may seem a little uncomfortable. People don't like to think of themselves as gods, or anything close to one. God is something that is outside of ourselves right?

Absolutely not. God, the Universe, whatever your higher power may be, resides within your heart. Always, always. Not only does your higher power reside in your heart, but that Love is there too. It encompasses every fiber or your being. You radiate that heavenly, perfectly beautiful love.

When you aren't feeling love, know that you are that which you seek. Give that love that you feel you are lacking to others, and that love will naturally flow back to you- or rather, you'll begin to feel the love that is already coursing through you.

Aham Prema
I am divine love
I am that which I seek
I radiate beautifully perfect love.
I am
that love.
Aham Prema

Have a radiant, love-filled week yogis!

Shanti.
